Solar Creates New Business and More Jobs
Increase In Solar / Green Jobs and Businesses
Over the years, the Green Energy Industry has inched its way towards a more steady growth. What was once more of a specialty thing for many companies, is now looking like a mainstay – businesses are now BASED on things like, installing Solar Panels, Solar Water Heaters, Solar Pool Covers and more.
In California Green businesses are actually creating more jobs at a faster pace than other more mainstreamed businesses.
In a study to be released shortly, the number of actual Green Businesses has grown over 45% since 1995 – and the number of Green Jobs has increased by 38%. All this while the general employment grew by only 13%.
“The number of green jobs in the Golden State jumped to 159,000 in 2008 from 117,000 in 1995, an average annual growth rate of 2.4%, according to what Next 10 called “the most comprehensive accounting” of the sector ever conducted.” (Taken from the L.A. Times)
This has also effected jobs that have been around far before the Green Energy boom, like electricians, carpenters, and other jobs. They have been able to ADD new job descriptions to what they do -and that has increased the overall productivity for them and their employee’s.
Not to mention, all the new jobs that are created for an Eco-Friendly economy. Like “Energy Auditors” and “Photovoltaic Installers” to name a few.
What was once a great way for homeowners and businesses to save money and become eco-friendly- has now spawned new jobs , more work and much needed businesses. Hopefully its a sign of things to come. But as of now, its quite clear that “Going Green” , has meant MORE GREEN in the pockets of many businesses and the economy in general.
